Lazy Geek's Cushion

An adjustable floor cushion. I think I would fall asleep working in this position but it might be fantastic for a combination back massage and blog roll read.

Love this minimalist waste basket by Li Jianye. "The idea by making into a flexible frame, it enables you to use any kind and size of bags for waste".

Sweety toy

sweety1.jpg
If you are stuck in your cubicle all day, dealing with all manner of unreasonable requests and you feel your stress level rising, don't take it out on other unsuspecting motorists on your drive home, use Sweety instead. "Sweety is your 24 hours a day listener. It listens to all your crap as a real life friend would (but probably better) and helps you analyze your stress with visible calm and beautiful graphic patterns. By exposing the cause of your stress it is easier to find a way to relieve it." Designed by Haishu Zhang Sweety is an interesting concept for the exercise and conversation averse.

Twemco analogue clocks

twemcoflipclock.jpg
I like to hear the passage of time which except for a nearly inaudible hum isn't possible from most digital slocks. These classics from Twemco would look great in my office and since I will in Hong Kong in a few months I think a visit to the Twemco showroom might make it on the list of shopping stops. They are accurate to boot!

Digimech clock

mainframeclock.jpg

A huge eccentric clock which though analogue has a display which looks digital - a digital/analog fusion.

Numbers are printed on vertical sliders and only reveal themselves when shifted into perfect alignment with the 'display box'. When not aligned they look like random, alien forms.

Wall straps

wallstraps.jpg
I like these. A great way to brighten up your office or storage room while organizing your stuff. If only I could drill holes in the concrete walls of our house.

These wall straps can be used to hold things right against the wall. The further apart you place the two end screws, the more tension on the strap and the tighter the hold.

Space Station desk organizer

bluelounge1.jpg
I plan on constructing something similar later later in the month unfortunately it will be no match for the elegance of this useful desk organizer. Of all the de-cluttering devices I have linked to this is certainly the most beautiful.

An extended desk organizer for laptop users with internal coiling pins conceals all the cords that usually sprawl over the desk. Hovering just 5mm above the desk, cords are free to enter or exit the hub at any point – on the side to connect a scanner, the front for an iPod, the back for a laptop or camera. An internal 4-port USB 2.0 hub will keep all peripherals connected. One USB plug exits the station right where needed to connect a laptop. Just tip the front of the SpaceStation up to access the hub and cords.

Griffin PowerDock

griffin.jpg

Are there families that have so many iPods that there become 'power struggles' as they try to charge their iPods? If you do the Griffin PowerDock has you covered. It might also be a welcome addition to small offices with iPod touting workers.

Substantial brushed aluminum with a grippy rubber base stays put on countertops and desktops. 8 Universal Dock inserts included to fit iPod models that charge by Dock Connector.

Lacquer Docking Station

PIP_large.jpg
A great way to keep all those ugly cords under-wraps.

A space-saving way station for cell phones, digital cameras, blackberrys, mp3 players and their charging kits. Wood construction with a glossy lacquered finish. Hinged back holds a surge protector, cords and plugs; rear cutout feeds cords to an outlet. Large drawer stores notes, pens and more.

Icon Clock

iconclock.jpg

Great minimalist design of the clock icon of old. A really relevant clock would be one paying homage top the Mac's spinning beach ball, an icon I experience far too regularly.

Puffla

A great way to fill a large space with something very comfortable. I could use one for my after lunch nap.

Universal active speaker for Ipod or laptops

amp.jpg

I think it would make a great desk.

AMP is a universal active speaker for Ipod or laptops. Active speakers don’t need an external amplifier as the amplification happens inside. So all you need to do, is hook it up to a music source and you’re set. The AMP refers to the time before transistor radios. At the time, radios looked like giant pieces of furniture, as it took a lot of space to put all the technology needed. Nowadays, because of innovations like the transistor, music equipment has become something that is sold as boxes meant to be hidden. The AMP however doesn’t hide its true nature.

The AMP is equipped with a mosfet amplifier and a 3-way speaker cone-set. The audio jack ensures the freedom to connect any portable music device whatsoever.

Calendar Wallpaper

calendarwall.jpg

Christiaan Postma:

The calendar plays an important role in our daily life, we might not always be aware, but it strongly influences how we structure our days. Without a calendar our lives would be more inefficient and confusing to live. By merging qualities from an everyday item like a wallpaper with functions from a calendar that we use daily, something ordinary like a wall becomes alive and personal.

I think this might be the next addition to my office wall. I've tried all kinds of calendaring apps. online and off but in the end I still prefer the tactility of writing on paper. Trying to keep the family in the loop has been a challenge as well so perhaps this could be a practical and attractive solution.

Glass Lamp

glass.jpg

I think these lamps look more like flowers but designers Ichiro Haba & Kazuya Koike write:

Shaped like a wine glass, it is an elegant and pretty clip-lamp. The stem is covered to keep an ugly metal neck out of sight. Soft light coming through the translucent silicon shade will do wonders to the atmosphere in your room.

A wonderful addition to your home office, especially when working in the evening.
