This is the question I had when I tried to turn on my mobile this morning. My wife received a cheap motorola for free yesterday so I thought I would give it a try but it kept asking for a password and I had no idea what that password might be. I wasted an hour this morning driving to the phone company so I could use my mobile again.
Here's the answer: PUK stands for Personal Unblocking Code. This acts as a security feature on your mobile. To protect you in the event of theft, the SIM card is immediately locked if three different incorrect PIN codes are entered in succession. In this event, you can fall back on the PUK code, which comprises eight digits. But where you can find this code is I would guess dependent on your sim and your mobile provider.
