I've been using iPhoto to manage family photos and noticed a key combination which I find quite valuable. It's likely documented somewhere but I seldom read these things.
iPhoto tip: When you are making adjustments in the modal adjustment
dialog pressing the option key allows you to see the before state.
It's tough finding software to manage and provide basic editing features that I can use on my aged 12 " Powerbook. iPhoto doesn't work that well when in editing mode, the sliders in the modal UI are horrible. Aperture is a no go, iView doesn't have any editing functions, and I have yet to have much success with Lightroom. I have Photoshop but it's overkill for my family photos. I know I need a new Mac but it seems odd that the deciding factor would be editing family photos.
