Though poorly shot I was knocked out by the understated minimalist look of this leather bag by Raf Simons. I know nothing about the designer and any talk of 'fashion' makes my eyes glass over. My idea of fashion is whatever is clean and comfortable - usually plain tees and jeans. My lack of fashion education led me to a world of people who lay out thousands of dollars on bags and covet brand names like Anya Hindmarch, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Pierre Hardy, Lanvin, Chloe, and Gryson. Perhaps you are familiar but I, a buyer of REI, MEC, Trager, and Tom Bihn was not. It's a wonderful trip visiting those sites (despite their universal attempts at shielding their product behind inaccessible websites).
The NY mag has a piece on Raf Simons:
Belgian-born Simons studied industrial design at the Antwerp Royal Academy. In 1999, he and then-girlfriend Veronique Branquinho, a major force behind the Belgian fashion explosion, were tapped to design the experimental line Ruffo Research. Simons became the creative director of Jil Sander in early 2005 and has been critically lauded for starting to reinvigorate the label.
Lovely and worth I am sure every penny. $795.00 at South Willard.

There is a strong correlation between the use of Flash on a website and overpriced merchandise...
