The form is something commonly seen in many bags costing much less but the detailing makes for a very visually striking bag.
A designer alternative to the standard laptop messenger, this cross body bag from Diesel will be a perfect companion for years to come. The Mitchell is a revamp of last seasons Betray bag made of nylon, finished with leather, and has plenty of pockets throughout to keep you organised. This classic bag has a lined main compartment and is finished with snap button and zipper closures. It is big enough to hold your laptop, personal technology, a bottle of water and a few of your favorite books.

I thought this concept had played itself out but Timbuk2 has recently released it's version of the manila envelope as MacBook Air sleeve form. As you would expect from Tiimbuk2 this sleeve is extremely durable and comes with the 'Timbuk2 Quality Guarantee'.
Built from 100% recycled PET (plastic bottles) and designed to fit your Air like a glove, the Steve Sleeve is not your average envelope. Welded seams, a soft, biodegradable TPU liner, recyclable Polyester button, and Timbuk2's quality guarantee, this is a high performance green machine.

I still haven't ditched my durable but dysfunctional travel backpack for something geared toward frequent airport usage. While there are other great products which fill a similar niche the Patagonia MLC (Maximum Legal Carry-On) may have an edge with it's internal floating compartment.
... convenience and functionality in a soft-sided suitcase that holds three to five days' worth of clothes and still meets ultrastrict airline carry-on size requirements. Hidden, ergonomic shoulder straps quickly convert the MLC to a backpack for mad dashes through terminals. A new "elephant ear" zippered panel and external pockets for airline tickets, passport and cell phone provide easy, one-handed access. An internal floating divider/compression panel and water-resistant laundry locker separate good from bad. Coated fabrics (1,680-denier ballistics cloth nylon and 150-denier polyester) deflect rain and sleet.

The new Emmedi range from Mandarina Duck brings lightweight and comfortable design, and blends it with classy yet contemporary style. Combining the raw design and materials that made the 'Workbag' range so popular, and bringing a refreshing feminine touch, the bags in the Emmedi line will no doubt be a huge success.Great bag and despite the proposed 'feminine touch', a bag I could see myself carrying on the next weekend excursion.

I thought this fad was over.

Calder make professional cases for guitar and violin so they have a thorough understand of what it means to protect and transport your investment. In addition to guitar and violin the also make laptop cases which feature a leather exterior, carbon fiber shell and suspension system, and a hand painted silk velvet lining. Recently Calder introduced the AirLift for MacBook Air, which seems ideally suited to a product like the MacBook, though with a weight of 4lbs the case negates the one of the advantages of having such an attractive laptop. They do marry well together and these cases certainly are beautiful. More photos after the jump.

With the rainy season here once again it's again time to start considering bags that will keep gear dry. The New York Times has a slideshow detailing some of the latest waterproof backpacks which though meant for non-urban quests would certainly work just as well in the city. The relatively inexpensive Overboard 25-liter Waterproof Backpack is pictured above.
