CHT to launch second own-brand HSDPA phone in December

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is expected to launch its second own-brand HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) handset, the CHT9100, in Taiwan on December 1, according to market sources.

The CHT9100 will be similar in function as its predecessor, the CHT9000, with both models running Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0 OS and sporting a download speed of 1.8 Mbps, the sources said, noting that the CHT9100 will not be equipped a QWERTY keyboard as the CHT9000 does.

CHT will also continue to outsource the production of the CHT9100 to High Tech Computer (HTC) as it did for the CHT 9000, the sources said.
