100 Hotels Under $150 A Night

When I travel I tend to prefer small, boutique, eclectic, or budget hotels over more expensive larger properties. The places I stay tend to be more interesting and personable. Also, I am not interested in spending much time in my hotel, the location I am visiting is much more interesting, and all those luxurious features go unused. Finding the right budget accomodation can be a challenge but for those traveling to the European continent, The New York Times has a fantastic list of hotels for under $150.
That's the thing about budget hotels. Sometimes they turn out to be a disaster, leaving you to lie awake at night, fighting to go to sleep as you try to shut out the noise from the busy street just beyond your window and hoping you will get to morning without having inherited a family of bedbugs. And other times, they turn out to be diamonds in the rough, places you can't wait to brag about to friends back home.
Now all I need to do is find a similar list for the countries I visit most often.
