Baggu Leather Bag

Similar in usage to the linen tote shared yesterday, Baggu's simple shape is made of soft natural milled leather. We snagged a couple of the nylon versions when they were first popular but I had no idea they expanded their catalogue to this extent. This would make a fantastic stuff sack. Made in NYC.

Khaki and Black Waxed Tote

This waxed tote from Southern Field Industries follows the familiar form and style that I love from this type of bag. Handmade of canvas, brass hardware, a leather bottom and replete with inside pockets this bag should last for years.

I spent the better part of yesterday looking for similar bags locally to no avail. I found some nice choices from Kinoshohampu but their prices are more than I am willing to pay; quality goods are incredibly expensive here.

Manon Shopper

Am I the only one who has to be able to carry a bag on their shoulder? Could this be a hold over habit of wanting to be ready for pick-pockets? I even hate carrying the groceries from the car into the house - part of the reason why we have large reusable Costco bags as they large handles to put over your shoulders. Which brings me to this beautiful manon shopper specificly designed for carrying - presentation - material A3 and extras such as a laptop, sketch roll and art supplies, but is also perfect as a shopping bag. Great form and made from one of my favourite materials in the world - wool felt. Made in the Netherlands - not in a 100 mile long factory floor in China.

A collection of totes I know nothing about

I love tumblr blogs for their ability to allow so many to share so easily so many great things. But in some instances it's so frustrating to find a lovely image, product or in this case bags and have no attribution what-so-ever. I'm following the same practice here. I love the simplicity of this all leather tote bag. With thick ground leather, which I'm sure is buttery soft, this bag would last a lifetime. It looks fantastic now but will only get better with age.

Los Angeles-based design studio Otaat's Bagby features a large opening for easy access and two straps (one long, one short) to allow carriage versatility. Carry as a funnel-like hang-bag where small items fall to the tip for easy access, or carry as a cornucopeia with an extended bottom surface for longer items. Made with cotton canvas with double-stitched seams.

It's all in the materials and how we feel when we have an object with such a strong link to the past.

Foresthound a line of bags designed by Boston based Alice Saunders are made exclusively from reclaimed military sacks, duffle bags and WW II era tents to create durable utilitarian tote bags. I think they look absolutely amazing.

A photo of this tote has been sitting on my desk for a couple months. A great looking bag sturdy enough to go through more than one generation of device that it is designed to carry. The Honeyeater is made of felt with canvas lining, hand stitched leather handles, laser etched details and a phone pocket. Capacious enough for your 15″ laptop.
