IPhone Case
Pack & Smooch iPhone wallet case

Handmade in Hamburg, Pack & Smooch's Leichester iPhone wallet case is made from 100% merino wool felt and vegetable tanned leather. I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying all credit cards and iPhone in one case but that outside pocket would be useful for small bills or the bits of important bits of paper that I still seem to gather throughout the day. One nitpick is the red branding which seems poorly executed and though a popular device perhaps unnecessary. Otherwise a wonderful case in which to carry your iPhone and much preferred to the mass produced cases by other brands.

NYC Subway iPhone 4 Case

I don't think I have ever thought of the exterior of a hard shell smart-phone case as information display, it's a great idea in this usage, and I could imagine many other situations where this might be practical. This might be too analogue, when you consider the possibilities of the device it contains, but I'm thinking some kind of writing surface might even be a good usage.
The MTA is one of the oldest and most extensive subway systems in the world, averaging 5 million rides per week and running 24 hours a day. Izola's high quality, durable NYC Subway iPhone 4 case--officially licensed by the MTA and printed with the New York City subway map--is the ultimate souvenir and everyday staple for the on-the-go New Yorker.

Very strong and unique styling.
The Shadowy World of iPhone Cases

Smartphone case makers rely on rumors and leaks to get their products on the market first but sometimes you roll the dice and you lose.
In the weeks leading up to Apple's (AAPL) Oct. 4 announcement about the new iPhone 4S, Tim Hickman lived and breathed rumors about the device. His company, Hard Candy Cases, makes protective covers for mobile phones, and he was determined to get a jump on production. After three separate manufacturing partners in China sent him detailed 3D models of an iPhone with a widened, pill-shaped "home" button and a slightly tapered back, Hickman decided to roll the dice. He paid $50,000 to make steel moldings to mass-produce cases for the new design and, on the morning of Apple's announcement, began taking orders on his website. The gamble backfired: Apple's new iPhone 4S included no major changes to the exterior design. The home button remained circular. Hickman suddenly owned $50,000 worth of paperweights. As smartphones proliferate--Apple booked more than a million 4S preorders in a single day, compared with 600,000 for the iPhone 4--the business of making shells to protect and decorate them is booming. Consumers spent more than $436 million on mobile-phone cases in the 12 months ending in August, a jump of 33 percent from the same period a year earlier, according to researcher NPD Group. With the secretive Cupertino (Calif.) iPhone maker unwilling to share specifications in advance, case companies rely on rumors, factory leaks, and other guesswork to approximate new designs before they're revealed. "If you have a good sense that you have the right measurements and plans, then you can ramp up production," says Karl Jacob, chief executive officer of case maker Coveroo, who says he does not use leaked designs. If a company guesses right, then "while these other guys are waiting in line, you already have 100,000 units on the way from China," he says. But a wrong guess means "risking millions of dollars to create inventory that could be worthless."
Hex Code Wallet for iPhone 4

While I haven't yet had the pleasure of using one the Hex Code looks to be a functional alternative to the common flip-down leather cover and a far more elegant alternative to cases like the BookBook and the Little Black Book. Like the BookBook it features slots for cards on the inside left with, like the Little Black Book, a large black elastic strap securing the case tightly closed. What sets this case apart is the sleek design befitting its use in more conservative or fashion conscious settings. An attractive unpretentious case.
BookBook for iPhone

BookBook for iPhone is a wallet and iPhone case rolled into one pocket-sized, vintage book. Similar to The Little Black Book iPhone Case which I have used to carry my iPhone, the BookBook features a beautifully designed distressed leather book cover and an interior with wallet-like slots for your cards. If you don't use allot of cash then this could be a great way to simplify what you carry.
The metaphor works well for my usage of the phone, and the leather cover should have a more comfortable feel than harder materials, but talking into a book at times feels a little odd. If you can get passed that this is a unique and attractive way to carry your phone.
Lazerwood iPhone 4 Wood Cover

Thin but durable, wood veneer cover for the iPhone 4. Peel-and-stick backing make the covers easy to apply and remove without damage to the phone.
Created to work perfectly with the Apple bumper or you can use the included veneer sides to fix that reception issue.
Not much protection but I can see interesting possibilities in terms of some custom illustrations in the wood. Great.
Elecom iPhone 4 Cases

These polyurethane cases from elecom let you attach a strap to your iPhone 4. Other than the strap (would you hang an iPhone?) and some nicer lines it's a bit difficult to see a difference between these and what is included as a stock case by local telecoms. Those with an eye for detail may appreciate.
The cases also come with the ubiquitous protective film to protect the LCD screen on the front and the glass on the rear.
Pantone iPhone 4 Case

"Stylish" is the first term that came to my mind when coming across these cases from Pantone. For those who like to advertise their design side these should please. My favourite Pantone swatch out of the nine offered is above.
Miniot iWood 4 Contour for iPhone 4

Miniot has been getting a great deal of well deserved positive press over their recent release of their wooden case for the iPad 2. The Miniot cover for iPad will certainly be on the top of my list when I can get my hands on an iPad 2. I haven't checked out their collection very often since I first mentioned their wood case for the iPhone a few years ago and they so have some wonderful new options for the iPhone. Pictured is the iWood 4 Contour for iPhone 4 which is made of wenge and maple. The wenge base of the iWood contour is outlined with a band of white maple, allowing for the iPhone 4's design to shine through. Wonderfully constrained and beautiful work.
