Steve Mono Leather Bags

I love these leather bags from Spanish designer Steve Mono. They exude quality. Pictured above is his Dennis Briefcase, Arthur Briefcase, Thomas briefcase with bandolier and the Adam school briefcase. The Dennis is my favorite.

From his description:

Shapes, materials, finishings,... are inspired by classic, easy and cool pieces I´ve seen many times in vintage photos, books or movies; that kind of briefcases and wallets that men used to take to their works in offices buildings, and also reminding that school boy-man look.

Bags, briefcases, wallets, umbrellas, belts,... thinking of that kind of men wearing always suit, jackets and tie, with their polished shoes and those bags and briefcases in their hands, where they take all they need for the day. Basic but quality and personal pieces.

Rocket Bag by Bill Amberg

I love the contrast between the aluminum handle with the vegetable tanned leather in this briefcase by Bill Amberg. The Rocket Bag is large enough to hold your laptop and other daily office essentials, has internal pocketing for a mobile phone and wallet, and a padded base to help protect the internals from accidental drops. It's gorgeous now but the leather is only going to look better as it develops its own patina and character over time.

Sam's Garage Briefcases

Sam's Garage briefcases, an "ode to the luggage designers of the 50s and 60s," are made with bent plywood with silkscreened graphics applied to the sides and fronts. The shape reminds me of suitcases from that period while the materials bring back memories of uncomfortable classroom desks of my youth. A not entirely positive memory but those desks looked better and last longer than their contemporary substitutes.

A case like this deserves to carry something more than a change of clothes or your days work; a traveling cocktail bar?

A popular style of bag, at least for those who are carrying a Lenovo laptop. I've seen them everywhere lately.

Calder make professional cases for guitar and violin so they have a thorough understand of what it means to protect and transport your investment. In addition to guitar and violin the also make laptop cases which feature a leather exterior, carbon fiber shell and suspension system, and a hand painted silk velvet lining. Recently Calder introduced the AirLift for MacBook Air, which seems ideally suited to a product like the MacBook, though with a weight of 4lbs the case negates the one of the advantages of having such an attractive laptop. BBP Hybrid Laptop Bag

I can't believe I missed this one. The bbp Biz collection are a hybrid bag that can be a backpack, messenger bag, or even a briefcase and looks conservative enough to take anywhere. If conservative and understanted are not your thing - and black can be a bore - they have a multitude of other styles and colours. The bbp Biz collection has all the features you would expect from a bag of this class: tons of pockets, top loading compartment, padded compartment for your laptop, luggage handle bit so you can attach to your wheeled luggage, and a useful umbrella holder. Of note is their Bak2Pak carrying system which evenly distributes weight to reduce strain on your shoulders and back. Expandable File Case

Even in this day and age there are times when I need to go to a meeting with nothing but paper (shocking?). No laptop, pda, or camera, just basic sheets of A4 that need to be protected and shared. This expandable file case from jack Spade looks like an excellent stylish choice to either carrying a large laptop bag or like I do cheap plastic folios. I like the look of this bag allot and it certainly matches my jeans, t-shirts, and leather shoes uniform that I wear these days. Made with weather and abrasion-proof nylon/cotton it should protect your items from but the worst of weather conditions. Use it as an excuse to increase your hourly rates. $325US (I have to stop visiting the Neiman Marcus online store).
