Art & Design
Commuter Organizer

This would come in super handy for small spaces like ours - we moved to a small company apartment (yes, a company apartment like what Foxconn provides and yes most commentary about living conditions is bullshit) from a large house and have trouble dealing with all the bikes.
Designed by Brad Reed Nelson at Board by Design, this small box bolts into your wall and provides a rack to hang your bike and a drawer to keep anything you need--locks, pump, tubes, patch kit, whatever! Constructed out of walnut with powder coated and tool dipped steel hooks, this tough and simple design brings a functionality you never knew you needed, but you won't be able to live without.
The art gallery in your pocket

Humans Invent reports on Phone Arts, an international collaborative project experimenting using only the mobile phone as the medium to create unique compositions. I think they are creating some interesting work, Phil Barker of Humans Invent is not so convinced:
The results are inevitably varied - with some pieces of artwork looking like they belong in a modern art gallery, and others looking more like a doodle in Microsoft Paint. Unfortunately, despite the promising premise, one recurring theme from the Phone Art contributions is a lack of overall detail in most of the pieces - a lot of the creations are based on colours or movement, highlighting the limitations of a relatively small screen and finger-based input. Some of the pieces do show a lot more evidence of thought and imagination, however, with a surprising amount of depth and detail.
Suitcase symphony
Jeriel Bobbe has turned his trolley suitcase into a musical instrument using relief paving stones.
"Whether they are stone slabs, tactile pacing for the blind, or a grid for wheelchairs, there is music in everything." Jeriel Bobbe has used his trolley suitcase as a musical instrument on his weekley way from home to the train station. Taking his inspiration from these walks, he has designed a range of relief paving stones to create your own composition: me-lo-dy.These wheels will pass on vibrations to your suitcase, which acts as a sounding board. The distance between the openings determines the pitch and their depth determines the volume.
There is an interesting rhythm to the sounds of luggage, sounds of voices, and wire of machine noise working in concert at the otherwise deathly airport terminal.
Mobile Mobile: reinterpreting the Christmas tree
I posted this same video a couple days past 2 years ago. I think it's worthy reposting considering the season and all. Here's the story behind the installation:
We took this as an opportunity to reinterpret the Christmas tree and its role as the traditional focal point for a communal space. 'Mobile Mobile' is a six metre circumference interactive sculpture, and signature piece for the entrance of the Lost Boys London Brick Lane studio. To cut a long story short, after a company-wide upgrade the agency had a lot of old mobiles gathering dust. We took these, built and hoisted a gigantic interactive chandelier/mobile that plays Christmas jingles in their reception.
To add a little xmas spice to the mix, anyone could go online, compose and play their own jingle (and enjoy annoying the hell out of people waiting around in the reception). This was achieved by playing the thing live, using your computer keyboard from a web browser.

Merry Christmas from AppleGirl
Watching this makes my teeth hurt.
Merry Christmas from "AppleGirl" who got her start making music with multiple iPhones and sharing on YouTube. Though you wouldn't know it by the number of times I have shared her efforts, I'm not a fan, but I do appreciate the progression of her music; well produced.
Tram
Was left wanting more but this is a lovely slideshow of a Latvian tram ride, the soundtrack is of the ride on the tram itself.
Daugavpils is the second largest city in Latvia and It has tram witch connects various parts of the this city. Because of mass emigration of young people to abroad in order to look for better job opportunities there are only old people left in the trams. At the same time those young migrants have left their children in the care of their grandparents So one can see the very vidid contrast between generation whcih reflects broader trends in Latvia.
Wooden iPhone

If this was available for purchase it would be on my Christmas wish list (not my kids). Kyle Bean's Wooden iPhone holds building blocks that represent apps. - if only screen interfaces could capture some of tactility of tangible blocks, instead of simply sliding pictures under glass.
One Day on Two Wheels
'One Day On Two Wheels' is a photofilm exploring the love-hate relationship between London and bikes. It interweaves five stories taking place in one day during Summer 2010: flower delivery boy Julian Sayarer, fashion designer Amy Fleuriot, Olympic glory Don Shaul, City of London Police cycling squad and mechanic Tony Welsh.Follow them into an extra-ordinary day featuring the live voices of the city - pubs, traffic, everyday thoughts and tales of a lifetime. Always strictly on two wheels.
Lovely.
