Webclock by Vancsa Domokos

webclock

Vancsa Domokos webclock tells the time and what is happening at that moment somewhere on the web:

For every minute of the clock, a fragment of text is taken from a webpage which contains the current time, but from a different day and / or year in history.

The WebClock contains text traces for 1440 minutes of the day and reflects the relation between man and time. It is a collection or subjective time experience, relatively, even though the absolute clock is represented as numbers.

Her conclusions based on her analysis of the text:

In the morning people are more interested about the weather. Even if they have different motives in finding out we ather than a farmer who works outdoors!

The Night-owl type of person tend to talk about sleep. When they watch the clock they realize that they are distanced to what they should normally expect to do at this time.

Hermès × Tokujin Yoshioka: Window Display

Tokujin Yoshioka's window display for Hermes Japan. In his words:

'On designing a window-display of Maison Hermès, I intended to express people's daily 'movements' with a suspicion of humor. there are moments when I perceive a hidden presence of a person in the movements born naturally in daily life. I created a design where one can perceive someone behind the scarves as if life were being breathed into them. the window is designed with an image of woman projected on to a monitor. the scarf softly sways in the air in response to the woman's blow.

This piece is part of an exhibition by Jaime Hayon and Nienke Klunder at Spring Projects in London.

A description by the artists:

Jaime Hayon and Nienke Klunder have worked together since meeting in Italy in 2003. American Chateau, is their first public collaborative exhibition. This new series of sculptural and two dimensional pieces is a creative departure for both artists, taking inspiration from the iconic cultural exports of the USA and the opulence of 17th century European craftwork. Jaime and Nienke's pieces are the icons of the booming, fast-food American dream, a kind of Versailles meets Disneyland hybrid. This unusual juxtaposition transcends historical, social and contextual boundaries through its eclectic influences and overlapping of historical periods and high and low culture. It challenges the elite notions of art and design and gives them a frame of reference in contemporary everyday culture.
